Our Story
Founded in 1987 by Rob and Gina Bradburn, Carpet Corner began as a family venture in a small unit in Farsley and has since become a well-loved name in West Leeds and beyond. Over the years, the business has built a loyal customer base, with families returning for generations to furnish their homes with quality flooring.
After nearly 35 successful years of operation, Rob and Gina made the bold decision to step back from the business following a period of reflection during the Covid-19 lockdown. It was then that their daughters, Charlotte Jones and Heather Bradburn, knew the time had come for them to take the reins.
Charlotte, who has worked full-time at Carpet Corner for many years, and Heather, who left a long-standing career in HR, are now continuing the family legacy and guiding the business into the future. Together, they are ready to build on the foundation their parents laid, and continue offering the personal, professional service that has made Carpet Corner a trusted name in flooring.
A Family Legacy
The story of Carpet Corner began shortly after Rob and Gina married in their late 20s. Over the years, the business has grown, moving to larger premises three times before settling in its current location on Stanningley Road in Bramley. Through the highs and lows, Rob and Gina have become a staple in the local community, known for their dedication, hard work, and personalised service.
Now, Charlotte and Heather are embracing the responsibility of carrying the business forward. “It has always been the plan for us to take over one day,” says Heather. “Lockdown gave my parents the chance to step back for the first time in decades, and now it’s our turn to step up.”
The sisters, who have a strong bond, are looking forward to learning from their parents while bringing fresh ideas to the business. “We’re fulfilling their wishes,” Charlotte says. “Dad has a wealth of knowledge, and we’ll continue learning from him as we go.”
The Future of Carpet Corner
Charlotte and Heather are excited about the future of Carpet Corner. They’re keen to expand the business through increased advertising, enhanced social media presence, and offering more furniture options. Their dedication to providing top-quality flooring solutions and excellent customer service remains unchanged.
The business currently employs a team of four fitters, including two apprentices, and Charlotte and Heather are committed to continuing this apprenticeship programme to ensure that the next generation of skilled fitters continues the legacy of Carpet Corner. “It’s been fantastic seeing the apprentices grow, and we’re determined to carry this on,” Charlotte says.
The sisters are confident that by working together, they will thrive. “We get along really well,” says Heather. “We may have different interests, but we complement each other. As we’ve gotten older, I can’t remember a time we’ve had a cross word. I believe we’ll do great things together.”
